This year’s UN Climate Conference takes place in Sharm el-Sheikh, against a backdrop of extreme weather events worldwide, an energy crisis propelled by the war in Ukraine, and scientific data reiterating that the world is not doing enough to tackle carbon emissions and protect the future of our planet.

On several different occasions, the UN Resident Coordinator in Honduras, Alice Shackelford, visited communities along the southern border to learn firsthand about the situation facing refugees and migrants in the area and meet with government entities, humanitarian agencies and civil society organizations to coordinate protection efforts.

Our UN teams are on the ground in 162 countries and territories, coordinating joint programmes and tackling a range of priorities and initiatives — from climate action and food security to gender equality and safety of civilians.
