Summary of the UNDG TT Side Event during Rio+20’s 3rd Inter-sessional
March 2012
The UNDG Task Team, with the Permanent Mission of Mexico, co-organised a side event to contribute to enhancing the coordination of national level implementation. The event provided a space for perspective from the country-level on how UN Country Teams are providing support to host governments on the themes of Rio+20 and proposed recommendations on how this support can be improved. Two country representatives and two UN Resident Coordinators shared their experiences covering challenges, successes and opportunities on the Rio+20 themes.

Integrated Regional Workshops on Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability

Workshops were organized by the Task Team in Africa, Latin America and Asia to assist UNCTs rolling out their UNDAFs in 2011-2012 to integrate the three topics in their formulation process. The week-long events were delivered in collaboration with UNSSC, UNITAR and CADRI. The design of the regional training events responded to increasing demand from UNCTs for more integrated, coordinated and systematic approach to the support they receive on the inter-related areas of environmental sustainability, climate change and disaster risk reduction.
Training of Trainers on Mainstreaming Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change in UN Country Programming

The Task Team organised a Training of Trainers workshop in Turin, Italy, in collaboration with the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), where the capacity of 34 UN staff members from 14 agencies was built in applying the two UNDG Guidance Notes.
